Echocho warns against blackmail of judiciary, PDP

ALHAJI Jubrin Isah (Echocho), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, who won the governorship ticket of the party at a governorship primary held in the state before the court sacked some PDP governors, has issued a warning to desperate politicians in the state, who are out to blackmail the judiciary and destroy his character and reputation.
Echocho, who sounded the warning in a press statement by his campaign organisation, made availa-ble to the Nigerian Tribu-ne, said his attention was drawn to the series of articles, press statements, as well as coordinated campaigns in both electro-nic and print media aimed at tarnishing his reputation by some desperate politicians.
“As a responsible organisation and conscious of the fact that most of the issues being bandied about are before competent courts in the country, we had earlier opted to keep mute, knowing that only fools would continue to hit their heads against the wall, even after being told that they have come to the end of the road.
“However, it has become absolutely necessary for us to speak up, in view of the desperation and brazen impunity with which some of the characters associated with the said agents of our political opponents have carried on with the mission to destrotroy at all cost, the character, person and reputation of Alhaji Jubrin Isah, who remains the governorship candidate of PDP,” the statement read.
The statement said courting the PDP national chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, by the state governor, Captain Idris Wada, was meant to enrol him (Tukur) into “a satanic and illegal project, since it was public knowledge that judgment is to be delivered by a Federal High Court in Abuja, on June 29.”
It added that “our mandate is of God and freely given to us by PDP faithful in Kogi State. It is the mandate that we have put before the judiciary, based on the rule of law. We have neither resorted to self help, nor attempted to circumvent the process by arm twisting the judiciary.”
