Let me begin by saying that in the contest that has just been concluded for the national leadership of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, we are all winners. There are no losers.
There are no losers because even at a time of great national distress and travails such as we are passing through now, the PDP has through the series of Ward, Local Government, State, Zonal Congresses and this Convention demonstrated magnanimity, generosity of spirit, oneness and that it can overcome its problems. We have posted, a clear, loud and bold statement that the future of our country as a democracy is bright; that our differences can be dissolved into a block of solidarity under the banner of freedom and that all can be protected under the umbrella, our Party’s Emblem.

PDP Commends President Jonathan for setting up electoral violence tribunal
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has commended Dr. Goodluck Jonathan President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Federal Executive Council for adopting the recommendation of the Sheik Ahmed Lemu panel on post 2011 election violence in the country to set up a Special Tribunal for trying electoral offences.
The Party National Publicity Secretary stated that “the President deserves a commendation from all well-meaning Nigerians and patriots who want to see that a civilized democracy is entrenched in the country, a democracy that will be devoid of rancour, thuggery and violence”.
“The courage and foresight shown by the President and his Executive Council members by adopting the Lemu panel white paper and setting up of a special tribunal to curtail electoral violence could not have come at a better time, especially now that some politicians are beginning to see incitement to violence as a valid political campaign strategy” he said.
