First Black/Up international stand-alone store comes to Lagos

Armed robbers, on Tuesday July 17th, raided a bullion van belonging to a first generation bank along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

According to reports, the robbers laid ambush for the bullion van which was coming to Lagos via the Badagry expressway and succeeded in taking all the money in the vehicle (58 million naira). They also killed an escort police officer in the process

The Lagos Commissioner of Police confirmed the robbery attack and said the bank did not use the customized bullet-proof bullion van that banks are advised to use in order to reduce the incidence of robbery attacks on bank vehicles.

Two Chinese arrested for killing 2 other fellow countrymen in Kano

Two Chinese nationals - Jimbo Zhao Dang Dong and Smith Zhhang Ze, have been arrested for allegedly killing two other Chinese during a brawl.

During the brawl, the Chinese nationals used dangerous weapons resulting in the deaths of the two men.

Kim K's ex and sex tape partner, singer and Brandy's younger brother, Ray J, re-tweeted and Lol'd a Tweet by Kim K this morning, and its the most talked about thing on Twitter in the US right now. The former lovers are now trending on Twitter with Ray J's lol getting over 40 thousand re-tweets.

What are they being trained for? To learn how to assist their husbands on the job. It was the initiative of the Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Mrs. Monsurat Sunmonu, under the “Women of Caliber” programme. They will be in London for eight days with tax payers money!

After a successful heart surgery in France, Baby Gracious is back in Nigeria. The little girl returned home yesterday after spending a month and a half in France. Welcome home little angel!

Adeyinka Adebayo now Asiwaju of Yoruba

According to Vanguard, the Yoruba Council of Elders, YCE, yesterday conceded the controversial title of Asiwaju (leader) of Yoruba to the former Military governor of defunct Western Region, Major- General Adeyinka Adebayo (rtd).

Since the demise of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who was the holder of the title, a lot of interests have evolved in the region on who occupies the coveted title.

The council of elders otherwise known as ‘Igbimo Agba Yoruba' and the entire Yoruba nation, in a memo approved the nomination and acceptance of the President of Igbimo Agba Yoruba, Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo (rtd) as the Asiwaju of Yoruba nation in Nigeria and diaspora forthwith.

But wait o...can there be two 'Asiwaju'? Former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu is an Asiwaju, abi? I'm Igbo, Please educate me! :-)

What the anti-bomb squad brought out from the hotel this morning, the black bag with the pillow

Got quite a number of calls from people around the area this morning about a bomb that was allegedly discovered in a hotel in Ikeja. According to eyewitnesses, a bomb was found in a room at Reliance Hotellocated on Emina Crescent off Amore Crescent, off Toyin street, Ikeja.

The hotel shares same fence with St Leo Catholic Church and is directly opposite Assemblies of God church. According to hotel sources, three guys slept in the hotel last night and checked out this morning. Housekeeper went to clean the room and discovered the 'surprise'. The hotel alerted the anti-bomb squad. The streets surrounding the area was cordoned off for hours as the anti-bomb squad worked to defuse the bomb. When they did, they brought the bomb out with a pillow and left it on the streets for a few minutes, then left with it in their blue vehicle. A LIB reader took that photo and sent to me. Hopefully the police will say something about this incident.

Tosin Jegede loses mum

The former child singer lost her mum, Mrs Martha Onyemuchechi Jegede, on Wednesday 11^th of July 2012. Mrs Jegede had been ill for quite sometime, after being diagnosed with a muscle disease. She passed away at a hospital in London at the age of 60. May her soul rest in peace...amen.

Army officers 'arrested' by Gov Fashola on BRT lane (photos)

Hehe! I guess nobody is above the law. Governor Fashola yesterday 'arrested' (more like confronted) two senior military officers who drove on the BRT lane at the Outer Marina in Lagos. The Governor was around the area when he spotted the military car driving on the Bus Rapid Transit lane which is meant strictly for the BRT buses, and came down from his own car to confront the men.

No arrest was made but the military officers were at least embarrassed by the confrontation.

Former rivals Jay Z and Nas were photographed yesterday talking, laughing, and embracing each other at Nas' private dinner at Bagatelle in New York City. Would love to see these two collaborate on a rap album.

Nas is signed to Def Jam which Jay Z used to head and his latest album - Life is Good - was released today.

According to Durex, Nigerians are the most sexually active

Condom manufacturers, Durex, today released another report claiming that Nigerians are among the most sexually satisfied people in the world. I say another report because last year this same company claimed to have carried out a survey which showed that Nigerian women are the most unfaithful in the world. Now we are the most satisfied? Isn't that kinda contradictory? If we are so satisfied, why are we cheating? lol

Anyway, according to the global survey conducted online, Nigeria is first at 67%, followed by Mexico at 63% and India at 61%. Nigerians also take the longest time over sex - we do it for at least 24 minutes per session. Really? 24 minutes is not even enough time to finish licky licky down there. Lol.

The Indians have the quickest sex at 13 minutes per session and the least satisfied people in the world are the Japanese with 15% according to the survey.

Women have overtaken men in IQ scores for the first time in a century after scoring as much as five points lower than men for the past 100 years, the Telegraph reported.

The findings represent a dramatic twist in the battle of the sexes, as in the past 100 years of IQ testing, women have lagged behind men by as much as five points. But now the gap has closed and females have stolen the lead.
